5 Day Red Centre

Day 1

Pick up from Yulara airport. This afternoon we spend at Uluru. First off, a visit to the UKTNP Cultural Centre to learn of the local culture and history of the National Park. Then we experience Uluru in the form of a base walk and interpretive walks. We then experience an amazing sunset over Uluru. (D)

Day 2

This morning we rise well before the sun to catch the famous colour changes over a Territory sunrise as we gaze upon Kata Tjuta (Olgas). This rather large conglomerate of 36 domes, towers nearly 100m over Uluru. The afternoon will be spent traveling to our next camp at Lilla Aboriginal Community. Lilla Community members perform a smoking ceremony for their new guests to welcome them to their country and provide them a safe stay. Tonight we stay at Kings Creek Station. (B,L,D)

Day 3
Today passengers will get a look into community life. Lilla, meaning sweet water, is an extremely sacred area for the Luritja people. Passengers become family as they are taught the art of painting traditional stories, jewellery making and hunting. Traditional owners of the area also guide passengers through dreamtime sites, explaining their ancient ways and learning’s. Tonight we stay in 3 star safari tents just down the road at Kings Creek Station. (B,L,D)

Day 4

This morning the 6km rim walk of King’s Canyon will be hiked. The Canyon is one of nature’s best sculptures. The 360 million year old Mereenie sandstone walk meanders through natural amphitheaters, lost cities and the Garden of Eden. After packing up camp and farewelling our new friends, we head for Alice Springs. Here we stay at Alice in the Territory, with amazing views of the Macdonnel Range. ( B,L,D)

Day 5

Today we tour into the Western Macdonnel Range, stopping at Ormiston George to survey the magnificent 800m year old geology and perhaps spot a black-footed rock wallaby. Before heading to Alice Springs Airport (B,L)
